I've gotten so many well-wishing emails and people who tell me in person that they enjoy governmentality. Often they want to know how they can help.
Here are 9 ways:
1) Visit every day. Maybe even more than once a day.
2) Participate in the discussion by commenting on posts or on other people's comments. There have been some really great discussions (and arguments) over the last several months.
3) Clicking on the ads in the sidebar tells advertisers and sponsors that this is a worthwhile blog to advertise on. Similarly, when you buy books (or almost anything else these days), enter Amazon through governmentality in the sidebar and a percentage of what you buy (even if it's not books) will go to helping governmentality.
4) Send in story tips. Regular readers know that a good portion of my writing is dedicated to the stories that are un- or under-reported in the mainstream media. If you think there's a story that deserves attention but hasn't gotten any, send it my way and I'll do what I can.
5) Subscribe to my blog feed by simply entering your email address on the left or click the subscribe button at the top of the page and select a format of your choosing.
6) Keep the feedback coming in. I try to use as many of your ideas as I can. At the very least, know I read and take seriously all of your suggestions and feedback. Email me your thoughts: allen [at] governmentalityblog [dot] com
7) Send my link to your friends and let them know why you thought we'd be a good match. (I don't know about you, but links that just get sent to me with no explanation are rarely clicked on).
8) Post comments elsewhere that include links to my posts when it's appropriate. I like it when readers enter links on my blog (assuming it's not just the link, but also an actual comment), because one of the great things about blogging is the discussion that occurs across the internet.
9) Donations always help but, as you can see, there are many more options to help out around here at governmentality. But I won't lie donations make life better at governmentality. At the moment, they're helping me go through the site redesign and get additional tools for governmentality.
Once the redesign is over, donations will go toward a number of investigative stories for governmentality that I would like to explore. That means fresh, exclusive content for you to read at governmentality. Not all stories carry expenses, but many do. Sure, some of them I could publish at another outlet and let them cover the expenses (which I also do), but this way I can bring stories to you exactly how I'd like you to have them.
Finally, many thanks to all of your kind emails and support through this first stage of governmentality. I'm grateful for your readership and all of your suggestions and ideas to make governmentality a little bit better, one click at a time.
