Michelle Malkin sure is all worked up about the possibility of Chicago getting the 2016 Olympic bid.
Me too. I'm worried about my hometown and all of the changes Chicagoans will have to go through to accommodate the Olympic games.
But why does Malkin care?
Malkin couldn't give a shit less about the people of Chicago--about the poor neighborhoods that will be wiped out to make room for a few weeks of festivities. Instead, her starting point is to oppose anything President Obama does. And that's why she has only talked about the Olympics in terms of Obama (and his 'cronies').
If Obama was from San Diego, Kansas City or Midland, TX, she would not be discussing Chicago's Olympic bid in any way, shape or form.
I might be wrong. I would venture to say that Malkin might even be rooting for Chicago hosting the Olympics if Obama had nothing to do with it.
Mass redistricting (read: gentrification on steroids), the over-use of contractors, and gross corporate profiteering are things conservatives protect and Malkin provides alibis for on a regular basis.
So what's so awful this time around according to Malkin?
Meanwhile, as I noted last week, the president himself will now join cronies Valerie Jarrett and Michelle Obama to personally lobby in Copenhagen for Chicago’s bid.
Yeah, I'd rather Obama stay in Washington and work on a number of issues I'm concerned about, but does his visit smell of corruption? Nope.
But wait! It gets worse!
Oh, and did you know that there is a White House Olympics office?
Oh, that didn't enrage you?
How about this?
Guess who else gets a windfall? Senior White House adviser David Axelrod’s p.r. firm, AKPD, which has done work for the nonprofit corporation formed to lure the 2016 Olympics to Chicago.
Except, Michelle, Axelrod isn't a part of AKPD anymore.
Exactly. Nothing.
Get over it Michelle. There's no there, there. You've written on Washington for a long time. You know how political networks work, but that doesn't equal corruption.
But speaking of corruption, where were you on Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater?--you know, actual cases of corruption?
You were silent.
You would have had more factual information if your book, Culture of Corruption, was about the Bush administration.
Then again, why let facts get in the way? Right, Michelle?
