The Bureau of Labors Statistics reported February's stats today:
Nonfarm payroll employment continued to fall sharply in February (-651,000), and the unemployment rate rose from 7.6 to 8.1 percent.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal announced Friday that he will decline stimulus money specifically targeted at expanding state unemployment insurance coverage, becoming the first state executive to officially refuse any part of the federal government’s payout to states.
Unemployment keeps getting worse and Jindal is happy to let his people suffer through it. And he has been touted as the future of the Republican party. Perfect--another Republican who is more concerned with ideology than constituency.
